Today’s post is dedicated to the blessed memory of my dear friend, Dr. Beth Deutch, founder and medical director of Herspace Breast Imaging in Long Branch, NJ. I met Beth as one of her early patients at Herspace in 2002. Later, I invited her to an exhibition of mine. She shared with me her vision to host an exhibition and I offered to co-curate the event. A year later, The Art of Survival exhibited the work of 8 artists who were touched by breast cancer at a gala event at Herspace.
Chrysalis 2 became the icon for event which raised money for the Diney Goldsmith Foundation for Breast Cancer Research and Education.
Beth also wrote the Forward to the children’s book that I created with my cousin, Ellen McVicker- Butterfly Kisses and Wishes and Wings: when someone you love has cancer… a hopeful, helpful book for kids .
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this print from my blog will be donated to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation in memory of Beth Deutch.
This is a beautiful piece!
Thank you Tracy, it is close to my heart in many ways.
