The Makeover. Online and in print, those Before and after pictures and promises that entice us to take a peek, consider and motivate us to take action. As if we’re not enough- or doing enough. Some are absurd, granted, and even fun to look at, but I believe that others offer a way for us to become our truest selves.
Help us Shine.
What if you could do something that would make you feel better; empowered with information, inspiration and concrete actions to become clearer on who you are, why you do what you do and how to communicate this more effectively?
For artists, writers, creative makers and entrepreneurs, this is some pretty potent stuff.
Earlier this month I attended Alyson B. Stanfield, the ArtBizCoach‘s Makeover 2014 in beautiful Golden, Colorado. (and managed to get out before the Polar Vortex hit!) This 2 and a half day intensive came complete with work book, slides, panel discussions and lots and lots of juicy ways to approach the business of sharing your work from social media to networking and everything in between.
Alyson also reminded us that “There is no such thing as a business in a box. You have to make it your own.” Tweet this.

Clarity and transformation begins with our Why. When we take the time to ask ourselves what is our personal reason for being, for doing and for wanting to create and share our work. This of course is only the beginning but one most people fail to consider. And, knowing your why can propel you past inertia and overwhelm. To see the inspiring TED talk by Simon Sinek that Alyson shared with us about the Why click here.

A journal page of My Why to keep me on track
Alyson is a master at providing systems and methods for approaching all aspects of being an artist a.k.a. entrepreneur. I returned from the glow of Golden with my battery recharged and a clearer understanding of my purpose.
If you’d like to work with a coach that understands artists, a great place to start is her Get Organized online class beginning on December 3rd.
A week later I am recharged, inspired by the other 80+ artists that attended, and basking in the glow. No botox needed.
That’s exactly how I feel after Alyson’s makeover event – charged! I have already made positive actions to strengthen myself as a self representing artist who gets things done! I enjoyed meeting you there!
It was great meeting you @Patricia C Vener and look forward to seeing all the wonderful things you will be doing post Makeover 14. Happy Holidays!

What a nice post. Thank you, Nanci. I’m so happy that you were here (again).
You didn’t mention our mastermind meeting, but I imagine that was just icing on the cake – at the end of a busy 3 days.
Thank you Alyson Stanfield- the Mastermind Group was incredible and deserves a post of its own- forth coming!
