Journaling and sketching is something that has been a part of my life since adolescence. Pages have held my observations, inspirations, joy and tears, and brought insight and clarity, comfort, and healing through the years. It has been a way of recording day to day life, travels, sleeping dogs, tea bags, friends, family and places.
At any given time, I have multiple journals, sketchbooks and journals going. I continue to keep a gratitude journal bedside, two notebooks on my desktop and sketchbooks in my studios, and always, a small one in my purse.
That is why I am excited to share this practice with others with at my new Art Journaling workshop series titled Draw, Write, Doodle, Dream at Delaware College of Art and Design (DCAD) in Wilmington. I have been gathering wonderful warm up exercises, prompts and ideas to give some structure to the class to help us make the most of our Thursday evenings together, beginning next Thursday, April 9-30, 2015. 6- 8 pm.

Even the books/ journals themselves hold special meaning- Bottom: a journal from my mom for mother’s day one year, Left- a leather bound journal from an artist friend when my first son was born, top- composition notebook with altered cover, Right- a gift from the moms in my son’s kindergarten class after my I was diagnosed with BC in 2002.
